Summary

By the end of this RLO, you should be able to search for literature and answer clinical questions. In summary, these are the steps:

1. Formulate a clinical question;
2. Recognise the PICO in the clinical question;
3. Search for alternative terms;
4. Identify free-text words: words with the same meaning;
5. Identify the Medical Subject Heading (MeSH);
6. Combine search terms using Boolean operators; and
7. Search for articles in PubMed

Please note that the search strategy provided to answer the clinical question in this RLO is a simple strategy. If you plan to conduct a systematic review, a more comprehensive search strategy will be needed.
