STEP 6: STRATEGY and SUMMARY
- Summarise the information in simple language.
- Ask patients if they are ready at that time to discuss further on the treatment plan.
- Assess patient's support system (family, friends and workplace).
- Present a strategic plan for further intervention. Ensure and check the patient's understanding on the proposed treatment plan.
- Identify coping strategies of patient and other sources of support for the patient.
- Invite questions.

Doctor: Are you okay for us to discuss on the treatment plan now.Patient is crying and husband wraps his arm over patient's shoulder.
Doctor: If you are not ready, its okay. We will arrange it later whenever you are ready.
Patient: No doctor. I'm okay, Please advise us on the plan.
Doctor: As for now, we will refer your case to the oncology team for further assessment and .... (Doctor explaining and list down the treatment plan on a piece of paper).
Doctor: What do you think about the treatment plan?
Patient: The plan is clear and I'm fine with it, doctor.
Doctor: Do you have anything to add or ask?
Patient: No doctor. now that you have explained to me, I'm more determined to go through the treatment as advised. Earlier, I'm so confused. Thank you very much, doctor.
Patient's Husband: Thank you doctor, for the explanation and your concern. We really appreciate your help.
Doctor: My pleasure.
