EXERCISE TIME (DURATION)

Duration of exercise is the amount of time the physical activity is performed.

It can be prescribed as TIME PER SESSION, PER DAY AND PER WEEK.

30 minutes
  • For adults engaging in MODERATE intensity exercises it is recommended to exercise between 30-60 min/day or 150 min/week.
20 minutes
  • For adults engaging in VIGOROUS intensity exercises it is recommended to exercise between 20-60 min/day or 75 min/week.
  • For previously SEDENTARY individuals, exercising less than 20 min/day can be beneficial for a start until they gradual increase the duration.
10 minutes
  • Exercise sessions may be performed intermittently and accumulated over the course of a day for at least 10 min/session.
  • In very DECONDITIONED individuals, exercising less than 10 min may help adapt the individual during the initial phase of exercising.
60 minutes
  • For WEIGHT LOSS management, it is recommended to exercise 60 - 90 min/day especially among sedentary individuals
